A 2017 report from the Economist says that the likelihood of floods, even in low-risk areas, is increasing due to climate change. If it rains, flooding is possible.

So what is a flood? By its legal definition, a flood is when two (or more) properties or acres have been wholly or partly submerged in water.

But when you’re facing a flood, you won’t care about the legal definition. You’ll care about personal safety, property damage, and restoration.

So in the event of a flood, here are some simple steps for preparation.

###Risk Geography - how close you are to the coast and the type of land your property sits on both affect your risk of flooding. ###Prepare Every home should be equipped with an emergency preparedness kit - and every car and office. The purpose of the kit may change how it is stocked, but it’s important to store important documents and medications, etc., in a waterproof case. Include extra food and water supplies.
